Shimadzu Aya(島津亜矢)

Shimadzu Aya(島津亜矢) left her home  at the age of fourteen so that she could study under lyricist Hoshino Tetsurō(星野哲郎).

In 1986, she made her debut with "Migratory birds Wearing Hakamas(袴をはいた渡り鳥 Hakamawo Haita Wataridori)."

In 1987, she joined with Sakamoto Fuyumi(坂本冬美) and Ishigami Kumiko(石上久美子) to form the singing unit "The Three Effervescent Girls(はつらつ3人娘 Hatsuratsu Sannin Musume)."

In 1991, her single "Aizen Katsura Once More(愛染かつらをもう一度 Aizen Katsurawo Mō Ichido)" sold over 300,000 copies.

From 1994 to 1998, she appeared on the radio program "Singing Headlight(歌うヘッドライト Utau Heddoraito)."

She sung her hit single "A Letter of Appreciation to My Mother(感謝状・母へのメッセージ Kanshajō Hahae No Messēji)" at the 2001 Kōhaku Utagassen.

In 2007, the taxi she was riding collided with another taxi carrying a member of the press chasing after Anita Alvarado, whose husband was involved in an embezzlement case. Fortunately, she came through the incident with minor injuries.

In 2009, a man called from a public phone located near the location where her concert was to be held, saying that he was going to go kill someone. They were unable to locate the man, and as a result, the organizers of her concert postponed her performance for a month.
