The offing's shallows of the shallow, a shadow of a boat
Is that you returning
Bringing along your fishing companions, the seagulls
Your singing voice your pride, stubborn bushi*
Yanza yanza the waves rise
Shururu shururu the winds blow
Esashi Harbor is the branching harbor
I will be waiting, a woman in love

Helping the mother dress a mackerel
Drying clothes at the seashore, a group of women
Dreaming about that golden folding screens
I wonder if I can be a pretty bride
Yanza yanza working
Shururu shururu the sun sets
Rather than making a living at the sea
I would rather be held by you

Yanza yanza the waves rise
Shururu shururu the winds blow
Esashi Harbor is the branching harbor
I will be waiting, a woman in love
