Yamakawa Yutaka(山川豊) made his professional debut in 1981 with the single "Hakodate Main Line(函館本線 Hakodate Honsen)."
He is Toba Ichirō(鳥羽一郎)'s younger brother. His father was a fisherman and his mother was a pearl diver.
He has appeared on Kōhaku Utagassen eleven times: 1986, 1992-1994, 1997-2001, 2003, and 2005.
