Mori Shin'ichi(森進一)

Mori Shin'ichi(森進一) won the "Rhythm Singing Contest(リズム歌合戦 Rizumu Utagassen)" in 1965.  Charlie Ishiguro(チャーリー石黒) developed him as a talent. Before he made his debut, Charlie felt that Shin'ichi's personality was not distinctive enough and convinced him to sing enka songs using his signature husky voice.

He made his debut in 1966 with the single "A Woman's Sigh(女のためいき On'nano Tameiki)."

He first appeared on Kōhaku Utagassen(紅白歌合) in 1968 and has appeared in all subsequent Kōhaku Utagassen shows since then. He has sung in the tori position nine times and the tori mae position nine times.
