Yamamoto Miyuki(山本みゆき) made her debut in 1997 with the single "Love Is a Solo Play(愛はひとり芝居 Aiwa Hitorishibai)" using the stage name Sakura Sakura(佐倉さくら).
In 2004, she changed her stage name to Yamamoto Miyuki(山本みゆき). That year, she won the best new artist award at the Best Hit Song Festival(ベストヒット歌謡祭 Besuto Hitto Kayōsai). She also won an award at the Japan Lyricist Award that year.
In 2005, she won the Wired Music Award at the Japan Cable Awards.
