Idemitsu Hitomi(出光仁美) graduated from college with a teaching certificate in fine arts and then joined Yakult Honsha Co., Ltd. While working for the company, she entered singing competitions. In one of those competitions, she ran into singer and composer Mizumori Hideo(水森 英夫) who was one of the judges. She pleaded with him to have a chance to study under him, and he agreed to make her his student.
She made her debut with Nippon Columbia Co., Ltd. for its 100th anniversary commemoration. Besides making her solo debut, she also made a debut as part of Columbia's enka idol unit called Columbia Girls Collection(CGC), a four member unit consisting of Idemitsu Hitomi(出光仁美), Minami Kanako(南 かなこ). Matsukawa Miki(松川未樹), and the third generation Columbia rose Nomura Mina(三代目コロムビア・ローズ 野村未奈).
