Gen Tetsuya(弦哲也)

Gen Tetsuya(弦哲也) is a famous composer who composed over 2000 songs.

In 1965, he made is debut as a singer using the stage name Tamura Shinji(田村進二).

In 1968, he changed his stage name to Gen Tetsuya(弦哲也). Gen(弦) comes from the strings of the guitar he loves so much. Tetsuya(哲也) is a play on words with "pulling a all-nighter(徹夜 tetsuya)" because he spent an entire night trying to come up with this name.

In 1976, he made his debut as a composer when Naitō Kunio(内藤國雄) sang "Oyuki(おゆき)."

In 1980, Kawanaka Miyuki(川中美幸) sang anther song he wrote, "Sake for Two(ふたり酒 Futarizake)," which became a hit. As a result, he was finally able to move from an apartment which didn't have a bathtub to a house with a bathtub.
