Ikeda Teruo(池田輝郎) first got his desire to become a singer after listening to Itakogasa(潮来笠) sung by Hashi Yukio(橋幸夫). Ikeda was in first grade at the time.
He however lost his desire to sing and did not sing at all between the ages of twenty and twenty-eight. This is because he was overwhelmed by Itsuki Hiroshi's singing abilities on the show All Japan Singing Championship(全日本歌謡選手権 Zen Nihon Kayō Senshuken).
He was introduced to min'yō music when he was 29 years old and started singing once more. He started singing enka after he turned 30. In 2007, he made his debut with the single Yunosato Passing Shower(湯の里しぐれ Yunosato Shigure).
In 2009, he changed his stage name from his real name (池田輝男) to (池田輝郎) after being told that his real name doesn't carry much good luck.
His teacher Mizumori Hideo(水森英夫) first heard Ikeda sing at a hot spring. Ikeda was in the spring singing as loudly as possible when Mizumori Hideo was in the changing room. Mizumori Hideo fell in love with Ikeda's voice and Ikeda became Mizumori's student.
He loves to play golf and bowl. He even bowled a perfect game in 2012.
