Matsubara Nobue(松原のぶえ) was scouted by the Kitajima Music Office when she was in her third year of junior high school.
She made her professional debut in 1979 with the single "A Woman on the Outgoing Vessel(おんなの出船 On'nano Defune)" and won that year's newcomer's award at the 21st Annual Japan Record Awards.
In 1989, she won the first Misora Hibari award given to outstanding female enka singers.
She has made seven appearances on Kōhaku Utagassen(1985-1988, 1990-1992).
