Nishikata Hiroyuki(西方裕之)

Nishikata Hiroyuki(西方裕之) loved to sing even when he was young and entered karaoke contests, winning many of them. He used to work as a deliveryman before becoming a professional enka singer.

He won the first The Star Karaoke Championship"(第1回 ザ・スターカラオケ選手権大会 Dai Ikkai Za Sutā Karaoke Senshuken Taikai)" One of the judges Tokuhisa Kōji(徳久広司) scouted him, and he ended up moving to Tokyo as a result.

He made his professional debut in July of 1987 with the single "Northern Sea Suikoden(北海酔虎伝 Hokkai Suikoden)."

In 1993, he won the Wired Music Award(有線音楽賞 Yūsen Ongakushō) at the Japan Cable Awards(日本有線大賞 Nihon Yūsen Taishō) for his single "Romance River(恋路川 Koijigawa)."

In 2003, his single "The Inn Covered in Steam(湯けむりの宿 Yukemurino Yado)" reached the top spot on the Oricon Enka Chart, and in 2005, his duet with Nagai Yūko(永井裕子) called "Ferryboat(渡し舟 Watashibune)" also reached the top spot on the Oricon Enka Chart.
