Ranka(蘭華)

Ranka(蘭華) is a third generation Chinese singer born in Japan who was named after Ranran the panda who lived in the Ueno Zoo Ranran with the hope that she will one day become a bridge between the two nations. Her grandparents moved to Japan from Fujian Province in the 1930's.

Both her parents loved music, and she started singing in front of people even from a young age. When she was a senior in high school, she earned a prize when she entered a local karaoke singing contest. As a result, she decided to become a professional singer and she moved to Tokyo where she took music lessons while attending a Chinese Language school to learn the Chinese language. She even went to Peking for a short time to continue studying chinese.

In December of 2001, she made her professional debut with the single "~Roots." She also modeled in newspaper and magazine advertisements.
