Masuiyama Daishirō(増位山太志郎)

Masuiyama Daishirō(増位山太志郎) is a former sumō wrestler who reached the rank of ōzeki and later became a stable master before becoming an enka singer.

Masuiyama(増位山) is a mountain in Himeji City(姫路市 Himejishi) in in Hyōgo Prefecture, home of his ancestors.

When he finally reached the rank of ōzeki, he was the oldest sumō wrestler to do so at the time. He retired from sumō a few months short of three years after this accomplishment.

His sumo stable produced several notable wrestlers including Higonoumi(肥後ノ海) and Baruto(把瑠都).

After reaching the sumō association's mandatory retirement age of 65 in 2013, he has concentrated his time exclusively as an enka singer.

He has appeared on NHK Singing Concert(NHK歌謡コンサート NHK Kayō Konsāto) in 2009 and on Thursday Concert at 8~ Famous Songs! Japanese Songs(木曜8時のコンサート〜名曲!にっぽんの歌〜 Mokuyō Hachijino Konsāto 〜 Meikyoku! Nippon'nouta 〜) in 2012.
