After graduating from high school, he sang at various clubs in Hiroshima and Fukuoka.

He was eventually scouted in Nakasu(中洲) and made a professional debut in April of 1976 with the single Living in Tears(涙ぐらし Namida Gurashi). He won various newcomer's awards that year including the eighteenth Japan Record Award and the ninth Japan Cable Award.

Kadokawa Hiroshi is Itsuki Hiroshi's friend, and has attended his concerts and also has sung various songs composed by Itsuki Hiroshi.

He has appeared on Kōhaku Utagassen three times, in 1978, in 1979, and in 1986.
