Hama Hiroya(浜博也) won the singing contest "Let's Sing at 11(11時に歌いましょう 11-Jini Utaimashou)" aired on Tokyo Broadcasting Television, Inc. (TBS) in 1982.
In April of the same year, he made his debut as a professional singer becoming the lead vocalist for the chorus group Tsuruoka Masayoshi and the Tokyo Romantica(鶴岡雅義と東京ロマンチカ Tsuruoka Masayoshito Tōkyō Romanchika). He left the group in 1994 to start his solo singing career.
