In 1984, he won the newcomer's award at the "All-Japan Cable Broadcasting Grand Prix(全日本有線放送大賞 Zen'Nippon Yūsen Hōsō Taishō)" for his single "One-sided Love Sake(片恋酒 Katakoizake)."
